Engine Rebuild class (the engine WORKS!!)

Our nasty Chevy 350 runs.

Motor: Chevy 350, 4 bolt main, .30 over,
Left head: 350 head, Right head: Chevy 305.
History: Came from a local junk yard, all bearing were fried, rings shot. Oil vally was painted a pretty gold (old racer trick to make the oil flow better : Didn’t work)
Last owner just frankenstein it together.

Goal: needed to fire-up and runs for a few secs.

  1. any small block part will work on each other it dont matter if its a 283 or a 350 they are all the same pretty much the only difference is the bore size of the block. and they prolly dont have any gaskets that explains the leaking.

  2. any part from a small block will work on one another it dosent matter if it is a 283 or a 350 its all the same exept for the bore size in the block. and they prolly dont got gaskets that explains the leaking.

  4. @foxx222z very nice job guys. i remember i took a automotive class at my school and we never got around to a engine rebuild, and didnt learn that much either, its really dissapointing.

  5. if you put a 305 and a 350 head on it add 350+305= 655, average the 305/350…. 655/2= 327. holy shit boys you just gave birth to a mutant 327. nice job anyways

  6. What difference does the water make if the pump isnt turnin…?Still cool to see someones first build, good job….it ran!Seemed a little pissed about havin different heads…but she ran!

  7. I'm just wondering, is it hard for a person that has not done a complete rebuild before to perform such a task? If he is taking his time and is doing it buy the book or a manual? Im not expecting it to be easy, but cars is a major interest of mine, and I'm thinking it could be fun and educational to rebuild a motor.

  8. It was pretty easy to rebuild, the chevy 350, is the best one to start with, there is so much out there for it and easy to find. I would get a few books about rebuilding and parts that interchange, plus the internet for information about it. You just need the time and a clean space to do it.

  9. surprised it ran.. appears to have no gaskets, as water is leakin out of every oriface. 305/350 mixed heads.. 8.5-1 compression on one side, and 10-1 on the other(give or take) that alone would shake the motor to peices within a few days of street driving..

teacher should have failed everyone involved in that rebuild..
