FREE BRIGGS & STRATTON 16HP OPPOSED TWIN MOTOR ENGINE TRASH FIND CURB ALERT STRIPPED LAWN TRACTOR

I saw this old 80’s Craftsman 2 lawn tractor in someones garbage, i pulled over and stripped the opposed twin off of it as well as some other parts i could strip. Someone had already taken the carburetor and the hood. I needed an engine in the worse way since i have 3 tractors that need engines.

Today i decided to figure out if this engine was good.

  1. The valves are going to need a good cleaning Henry. M Gomez is right it wouldn't to lap valves, get this straighten out and it could be a good engine .

  2. I think WD-40 would work better in your situation to spray on the inside of the motor. Since you had water in there all around the WD would displace it. PB is a penetrant catalyst, mainly for rust of course. WD is not a great lubricant, but it smells excellent lol😁.

  3. Pressure wash the whole engine inside and out, and oil it up so it doesn't rust…. You have to get all the crud out of the valves then it will close, you might have to tap it in cause of rust, shoot some pb blaster all over everything and then clean again.

  4. Opposed twin briggs, my favorite all time briggs engine, love the way they sound, I have 2 of em, a very nice 20hp, and a very nice 16hp, the 20 I put in my lt1000, and the 16hp will be going on my snapper rider, a hint do not run it without the covers on it other wise it over heats fast.
