  1. Hi, I have a Briggs/Stratton mower and the oil from the crankcase is
pouring into the carby through the breather hose, thus when it runs
there is enough smoke to fill the neighborhood can you advise the cause
of this thank you in advance

  2. Great Video!. Hurricane Matthew downed my Craftsman Pressure Washer so I'm trying to bring it back to live. The engine oil looks like vanilla custard! Question: what does that other screw on the carb adjust?

  3. This helped me so much. The first time I've cleaned a carb and it was straight forward thanks to this video. Now my old mower is running smoothly.

  4. use premium fuel in small engine , for some reason it works better and does not gum up in a carburetor after long storage ,
second if you have a fuel valve turn it off while the engine is running and wait until the fuel dries out from the carburetor ,
Fuel left in the carburetor for a long time will dry up and damage the carburetor , installing a fuel shut off valve is easy ,
If engine is hard to start remove the spark plug and use a propane torch burn off the Corbin residue and whatever might be on the spark plug , I do it until the Central Electric and the ground electroid get red hot , of course wait until the spark plug cool down before reinstalling it , in the Old Country Palestine we used to put a small amount of gasoline on the ground put the spark plug in the middle of it and set it on fire , that always worked to get us out of a jam ,

  5. I have a similar Briggs and Stratton engine on my mower and it was giving me problems starting. It would start and run and not start again if I shut it off. I took it apart and removed and cleaned just the carb. bowl and nut. I wasn't confident enough to remove the whole carb so I just sprayed cleaner thru the hole where the butterfly is. Got it back together and it runs fine.  Thanks so much for your video. It helped a lot!

  6. I would never install a dirty air filter like that back on a machine, no matter if it is going in storage or not. I would also change the oil and sharpen the blade, and tune it up.

  7. when putting air breather cover on, don't over tighten or u will warp part. book torque says 36 inch pounds. thats only 3 ft pounds. if it does wrap, sometimes u can use 2 gasket and make it work.

  8. Saw a mower on Facebook today, "free to collector, non starter spares or repair" it has this same engine. It already had a new spark plug so I searched and found your video. I stripped the carb and did exactly what you did………and the mower started first time! Happy days and cheers for the vid mate. All the best from Swansea, UK.

  9. Many thanks form the informative video. My Harrier 48 has been good for the last 18 years (with regular servicing, last time a year ago) but has just developed a fault. Once primed it will run for a 5 secs or so and then stop so assume a dirty carb or fuel line ? Have some confidence now to clean the carb thanks to you and hopefully will fix it. Any other tips welcomed ?

  10. Donyboy…. My 3.5hp b & s is missing the bolt that secures the gas tank in the front of the mower. The long one with spacer is secured but I am missing the short one. What size is the bolt? Thank you for any help!!!! Brian in NC

  11. Hey MR Donny boy Here from IOWA just saying thank you for your Videos .Have been very helpful keeping my equipment going .
    Once again Thank you !!!

  12. When you wire brush the carburetor it looks like you removed some of the protective coating? will that matter in terms of corrosion long term?

  13. hello i have a question on the seat. i bought a mower with a briggs engine . it run and starts but has a little surging and a miss. i took apart the carb and cleaned it per your vid. i noticed that the needle seat seems to have been installed upside down. would this have any effect on how the engine runs and cause the issues i am having? thansk for any help

  14. Ok, same carb. Mower won't start unless I sprayed carb cleaner down throat. Then will run fine.
If I shut down, it will not restart unless I do the above procedure again. So will do this disassembley as the video.
    Stupid auto choke design.

  17. donyboy73, thanks a million for this great video. Not only did it help me clean the carb on my Briggs and Stratton lawn mower engine, but you did it without talking too much about meaningless crap like other folks. I love how your video is straight and to the point so I can spend less time watching and more time doing!

  18. Great useful advice just stripped and cleaned my neighbours carb and started first time. Used a butane cylinder which really cleaned the jets spotless as I did not have an air line. Thanks for posting useful advice – just earnt myself a free beer!

  19. Thank you for your video, I tried fixing my lawn mower three times before coming across your video. One time I had the carburetor dismantled and cleaned it. Apparently not well enough, so after watching your video I followed through with all the steps you showed and wallah she started right up and kept on humming.

  20. my lawn mower just won't say cranked it's about a 2 yr old mower i clean real good like you did in the video and did the whole yard and now it's doing it again. darn thing

  21. Thanks very much! This is the same lawnmower I agreed to service for a friend. I'm not a mechanical guy, I've never worked on a carburetor before, but with this and a couple of other HD videos on carburetor tune-ups, I was able to get it right on the first try. It started up on the second pull! Woo-hoo! Thanks very much for this video. 7+ years and still helping us out!

  22. Any videos on how to remove a broken bolt that hold the muffler, I just recently broke one of the bolts that holds the muffler, any tips on how to, I would really appreciated, thanks.
