Can’t find your engine model number? Watch these step-by-step instructions by Briggs & Stratton to finding the engine’s model number on your riding mower.
0:11 – V-Twin Riding Mower Engine Model Number
0:22 – Single Cylinder Riding Mower Engine Model Number
0:34 – Older Briggs & Stratton Riding Mower Engine Model Number
Finding your model number on a Briggs & Stratton riding mower engine engine is quite easy.
Take for example our V-Twin engine. The model number will be stamped directly into the metal at the top of the cylinder. The metal plate itself should be located on the either the right or left side of the engine.
The number you are looking for will be indicated by the words “model” and “type”. The first 12 characters will be the model number that you are searching for and the ones you will want to present to your dealer and/or use to search with online.
For our single cylinder engines, you can again find the 12 character model number stamped into the metal plate, typically located at the top of the cylinder.
For our older engines, the model number will be stamped on a tag directly on top of the engine. Once again, the number you are looking for is the first 12 characters, depicted by the “model” and type” indicated next to the characters.
