What did you use to clean the head?
i used S-O-S pad it really works makes the heads look like new but if you dont have any you could usesteel wool as long as you dont scratch the sealing serfuses ur a drill and a wire brush works good to.
How did you take it apart?

that doesn't look like "criss cross" tightening to me
do you have to re-turk the head bolts after it gottin headed up ? you do know there is a spechel pattern for those head bolts !!! 220 INCH LBs 100 ( INCH LBs ) , then 170 ( INCH LBs ) then , 200 ( INCH LBs ) then 220 ( inch lbs ) done ! STEEL PUSH ROD to EXZOUST Alumminum bottom intake , YES YOU HAVE TO HAVE THE LITTLE CAPS ON VALVES !! 0.08 FEELER GAGE EXZOUST 0.06 FEELER GAGE INTAKE ! PLEASE DO NOT GET DIRT IN BOLT HOLES & KEEP BOLTS IN THE SAME HOLES DO TO WARE !!! PLEASE LOOK AT OTHER VIDEOS OR JUNK YOUR MOWER !!!!
DAMMIT MAN, I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU DIDN'T TORQUE THOSE BOLTS. SOME POOR GUY IS GOING TO FOLLOW YOUR INSTRUCTIONS AND SCREW HIS MOTOR UP. WOW YOU SEEM LIKE A SMART FELLOW, START USING THE PROPER SPECS FOR THESE PROCEDURES AND YOU WOULD BE TOP NOTCH.
No torque wrench, no feeler gauge, didn't tighten in spec criss-cross pattern, gradually increasing torque in specified increments, no lube on head bolts, etc. = good way to ruin an engine. I'm sure you mean well, but you do a great disservice to the DIY-ers.
