I Let Joe take over my camera to follow his Chrysler 383 build over the past few weeks, we want to bring you the tips and tricks of rebuilding this Big Block.
In the fourth episode Joe will show you how to properly install the timing chain on his 383 Big Block. With the camshaft already properly degreed Joe is now ready to install the timing chain, and cover. Joe walks through the steps needed and providing the torque specifications along the way. He tells you about his old school “secret sealant” for keeping your gaskets from leaking.

  1. I noticed the no.1 piston was at tdc with the dots on the sprockets aligned. Would that be the top of the compression stroke? Distributor would point at no.1 as well?
