  1. Thank you for your response, the motor I have is a Bernard but it's the same coil. I cannot get a spark the lead is ok on a meter, but still no spark and there is a reading from lead to head but no spark, yes have tried another plug. How to test the coil ?

  4. I have this same part on my tecumseh tiller and I cleaned the points real good and the magneto and it still wont get spark. What is my issue?

  5. Good video and helpful. Is it normal for the two small wires coming out of the coil to be shorted electrically? I have purchased a new coil and both the old one and the new one are short between the two smaller wires. I see that one goes to the condenser screw and the other connects to the point terminal. I would think this is my non spark causing issue, but I'm skeptical that I recieved a new faulty coil.

  6. I have same question as thegenrl does. Can I get a etectronic megneto to replace point and condenser coil? what should I do to convert old point and condenser module?

  7. Dony,
    I have a question for you .
Will the 30548b condenser work on my lauson TLC 349?
I need to make it fit , I realize that ,
But in general Is the farad rating somewhere around 20 microfarads ?

  8. Thanks for the video. I have a 1970 Fox Street Scamp mini bike with a 1969 HS40 Tecumseh that needs a coil. I was a little hesitant about doing the coil swap. After watching your video I feel confident I can do it. Thanks, Matt

  9. Thanks for the video, it really helped me sort out an old Wolseley Tiller today with a Tecumseh TA633 / FAB12 , really enjoy your videos, give me the confidence to DIY!

  10. on a magneto that is using the electronic style and not the condenser would there still be points on the inside of the magneto? if so i think i'm missing quite a few parts for mine >.<

  11. Hi, well its obvious i will have to pop the flywheel on and off to set the gap on the coil and magnets. What should the gap be? thanks. Took mine off and didnt mark it.

  12. Should NEVER use sandpaper or emery cloth to clean points contacts! These will leave a gritty residue between the contacts, causing a faulty connection. A thin, steel points file or steel fingernail file is the only way to thoroughly remove any debris or oxidation from points contacts. Then use electrical contact cleaner, brake cleaner or cleaning solvent (paint thinner) and 150± psi compressed air to clean any oil and metal filings from the points contacts.
