This is a follow up of the most recent lawn mower find a free Troy Bilt with a 675 series Briggs and Stratton Engine. The owner could not get this to start put a new spark plug in it and then just listed it for free. Cleaned the carburetor and gas tank it barely would run the first start. They had not gapped the spark plug just installed it out of the box. It runs much better but still has a slight miss in the engine. Will continue to work on this to see if we make it run better.
i give a quick tutorial of how to “retrieve” a virtually non-existent model no. and serial no. from a lawn boy mower thats a pre-2005 machine with the 2 cycle engine on it. this works on machines that have extremely faded to non-existent id tags that have been sun damaged from sitting outside for years.
This is a Snapper lawn mower listed on our local neighborhood website to come pick it up! Looks to be an early 90’s model. The handle bar and control arm had been removed and missing the bolts holding those parts. Got it to start by zip ties on the engine/blade brake safety feature. Started right up maybe that cable had stretched and they could not longer get it to start. Overall very nice condition believe to be model R21400 the model and serial number labels are missing. Will do a follow up video after putting the handle bar and control arm back on and sorting out what missing parts this Snapper may have..
Welcome back and thanks to all new (and old) subscribers.
The contents of this video is the reason why i was not very active on here for the last 2 weeks.
The crankshaft end and the drive pulley of my Westwood Diesel lawnmower developed a lot of play, so this needed urgent addressing as the grass did not stop growing, even if i wished for…:-)
Dismantling the engine was no option as i had no gasket set and the amount of work would be massive. So idecided to put the whole engine on the mill and skim the shaft with a boring head.
This will be a 4 part video, Part 1 and 2 are the engine shaft machining, in part 3 finishing off the engine shaft keyway, making the new pulley, part 4 shows some shaper actions and bloopers while shaping the keyway and the final assembly and test.
