Bought this Troy Bilt its about 6 years old as a moving sale found on our local Craigslist. It would not start when I picked up overfilled with oil and even oil in the carburetor. Got it running but still has an engine miss there will be a future Part II on this Troy Bilt.

  1. Did you ever find out what was causing the miss? I have this engine on a pressure washer and have done everything and can not figure it out. Thanks

  2. I had the same problem when I overfilled my dads Honda HRU217D (with the Honda GSV190 motor bolted onto it) lawn mower with oil as oil got into the jets & restricted air & fuel flow.

Since I had already done a full carby clean, I just removed the air filter, ran the engine at full ball for a few times & chucked some fuel down the throat of the carby, that fixed the problem & it purred smoothly at idle speed afterwards.

  3. I have the same mower I bought off a friend for 20 bucks. I'm having the same problem. It's doing the same thing this mower was doing before you fixed it.

  4. At 5:53, what is that part with the hand on it with the 2 little bolts and holes? What happens if gas and/or oil gets in there if you accidentally got some in there because I'm a dumbass that tilted the mower upside down to replace a bent blade after going over a tree stump that stuck out a bit from the ground?

  5. Hey mountainbikekayak, I commented on one of your mower videos some time ago(love the mower vids and all), You mentioned the area you lived, was it in North Carolina? How far are you from the Charlotte, NC area? My Dad has a 13 Mile mountain bike trail open to the public over some beautiful land and if you are ever down this way would be very worth your while to check out.

  6. Can you please give me the serial number off this machine! I can see the white tag in the video but cannot make it out! I'm trying to order a bag for mine and the Troy Bilt serial number sticker is missing. If you're standing behind the mower, look to the left right in front of the plastic flap that lifts for the bag to insert! I would be very appreciative!

  7. Hi Cliff, nice little Troy bilt, It looks like it hasn't seen much use. You sure have came across a Lotta Troy Bilt's this year! My season was Snapper & Craftsman! Have a great Sunday & take care.
