  1. Probably bad check valves. There are two in the body of a Zama.  The main jet check valve is relatively easy to replace.  The idle check valve is trickier.

  2. Did you correctly measure the needle fulcrum lever, as so that it doesn't allow fuel to enter the carb (while not running), due to pressure from the Metering Diaphragm.
